Sometimes we make assumptions.  And rarely is that a good thing!  Up until 3 years ago, I assumed our deployed military men and women were given what they needed to perform the job we, the United States, asked them to do.  And then I was sitting in the audience listening to a presentation by the founder of TroopsDirect, Aaron Negherbon. TroopsDirect is a non-profit 501(c)(3) that provids supplies to front line military personnel that can not be obtained through the military supply chain.  Things like boots and helmets and uniforms.  They send food and medical supplies and communication equipment.

Yes, I was thinking what you are thinking right now ... They don't have these things?  These are basic items.  Why?  Good question.  And one to be asked.  Regardless, I just knew if it were my children out there, I'd want them to have these things ... boots? Really?

So I got involved.  I couldn't not get involved.  You know those times you feel pulled into something?  This was one of those times.  It didn't make any sense to me.  But this was simple .. non-profit, non-partisian, with a commitment to those who serve.

TroopsDirect is constantly shipping supplies; constantly getting requests.  I still can't believe that's true even as I write this.  But I want others to know about TroopsDirect and that we continue to provide what our service members need on a daily basis.  And to think it all started with a care package from Aaron to a deployed friend!
